The event will be held in public spaces, in six key locations within community neighbourhoods. These are chosen based on their relevance for the community life, historical and cultural context, or proximity to buildings with architectural value.

Bringing Macau’s public spaces to life
Explore the Biennale with our guided tours, available in English and Chinese. Each tour takes you through the temporary installations, highlighting the creative strategies, spatial interventions, and interactive experiences that make IN SITU a living experiment in public space, while also uncovering the history and significance of each location.
Step beyond observation and become part of the city’s transformation. Join workshops, collaborative activities, performances, and cultural experiences that invite you to interact with the installations, co-create with artists, and engage with local communities—bringing Macau’s public spaces to life.
The IN SITU Placemaking Biennale is Macau’s first international festival dedicated to transforming public spaces into stages for creativity, connection, and community. The Biennale brings together local and international artists, designers, and citizens to reimagine the city and experience it in new ways.
During four days, six spatial installations —three by international teams and three by local ones—will appear across Macau. Around them, workshops, performances, exhibitions, food stalls, and cultural activities will bring spaces to life and invite everyone to join in. These temporary transformations show how design, culture, and community energy can turn everyday spaces into places of exchange, dialogue, and discovery.
IN SITU is more than a festival: it is a living experiment in how public space can connect people, inspire creativity, and reveal new possibilities for city life.
